Lake Meyerland

After a fun Memorial Day weekend, we got home and that evening it started raining...and it didn't stop.  I was mostly annoyed that the thunder and lightening kept waking me up.  Little did I know, many of our friends were waking up to water in their houses.  Feet of water.  So sad.  The scariest story was our friends talking about walking through chest high deep water at 2 AM to get to a neighbor's house that was built up and dry.  Other neighbors spent the night with the family piled on the tallest bed in the house.

This was basically what our street looked like.  Again, when I first saw the water I was worried about it washing away the new landscaping by the street.  I kind of have survivor's guilt for being absolutely not impacted at all.

Then meer blocks away, this is how high the water was, and the pictures below were taken after the water had gone down quite a bit. It had been up in the houses across the street.

I feel like everyone knows about our neighborhood now. Helicopters circled the neighborhood all day and we were the place to be for the news crews.  Sadly it was not positive news.  But what an amazing community to have rallied like it did!
